If you use Google Chrome<\/a> and notice your computer slowing down, you’re not alone \u2014 Google’s browser has a bit of a reputation for eating up RAM.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you don’t want to use Chrome’s \u00a0built-in task manager<\/span>\u00a0all the time, there are some extensions that can help you out.<\/span><\/p>\n

Option 1: The Great Suspender<\/h2>\n

The Great Suspender places your apps in stasis, pausing them if you haven’t used them in a while. With one click, you can bring a page back from suspension and have memory allocated to tabs that are actually being used. Here’s how:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0Click Add to Chrome<\/strong>\u00a0on The Great Suspender\u00a0in the Chrome Web Store.<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0Click Settings<\/strong>\u00a0on the resulting page.<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0Fill out your settings<\/strong>, including how long to wait before suspending tabs, which tabs to whitelist and whether or not to suspend pinned tabs.\u00a0Click Save Settings<\/strong>\u00a0at the bottom of the page.<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0Click in the blue box<\/strong>\u00a0to make suspended tabs active again. They will refresh and be available to use.<\/p>\n

Option 2: OneTab<\/h2>\n

1.\u00a0Click Add to Chrome<\/strong>\u00a0on OneTab\u00a0in the Chrome Web Store.<\/p>\n

2. Click on the funnel button\u00a0<\/strong>among your extensions in the top right of the browser.

3.\u00a0<\/strong>Your tabs will be rolled into one tab directory.\u00a0Click on a link<\/strong>\u00a0to put it in a separate tab, or\u00a0click Restore All<\/strong>\u00a0to put them all in new tabs. Having all of your links in one tab should reduce memory usage.<\/p>\n
