Krita is a FREE digital painting and illustration application. Krita offers CMYK support, HDR painting, perspective grids, dockers, filters, painting assistants, and many other features you would expect. Krita is a FREE sketching and painting program. It was created with the following types of art in mind: concept art, texture or matte painting, illustrations and comics.

Krita has a user-friendly interface. In the settings menu, you can select color themes, toolbars and dockers to use, and edit keyboard shortcuts. Save a given set of dockers as a workspace and switch between them. The canvas can be easily rotated and mirrored. The OpenGL canvas supports high bit depth monitors. There are plenty of options for creating a canvas-only painting mode without distractions.

It is now easy to create seamless textures and patterns. When drawing, press the "W" key to switch the surround mode. The image will reference itself along the x-axis and y-axis. Continue drawing and watch all reference updates immediately. No more bulky offsets to see how your image repeats. You can even paint on the edges and it will automatically start painting on the top. This is one of the features you must check for yourself.
